A Milestone of Mirth

Here we are at a quarter thousand postings—sounds great when I put it that way! If you average out the number of cartoons to say, ten per post, that adds up to 2500 cartoons I’ve shared with you in the last two plus years here on Cartoons by Collins! And if you divide that number by the dollars I’ve made, it comes out to $1.47 a ‘toon. Hmmm.

Is that a bargain or what?

For you, not so much for me. If I worked an average of three hours to make each cartoon, then my hourly pay is $.49 an hour. Hmmmmmm.

I’m not complaining. I’m comfortable. I drive a nice car. It’s not a ‘Vette, but you can’t pull a fishing boat with a fancy sports car. I can go out to eat maybe two or three times a week if I want to. It just seems to me that I’m not getting a good return on my labors.

I know the current administration has fooled half of you into thinking they have your interests at heart, when in fact they care only about enriching themselves and their rich crony friends, while having given us all the high hard one. Money is tight all over (if you’re not a stinkin’ rich guy). It’s not your fault. Well, it is for half of you.

And yet here I labor, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after…you get the idea. I don’t wish to bug you about this, although I did learn a trick or two from my passive-aggressive Mom about how to get what you want while appearing small and meek when you do it. She was a master and my sensei in the art of whining.

How do you think I got my wife to say yes?… to get in the back seat of my Corvair and make out—it comes in handy.

If just 50 of you out of the thousands who follow me would purchase just a month at a time for $5, the support would make a real difference for me. You can binge-read CbC on the beach and in a month get enough of me to last you for a while until the next time.

Sharing is good too!

Spreading the word helps to put me in front of more eyes and that can only be good.

Think about it. Weigh the pros and cons. Mull it over. I’ll be here. I’m always here.
